Thank you very much for your
consideration in reading the policy for "Fushigi Yuugi - The Fire of
Suzaku's Wings". In the past, I have been very lenient about others using
information from my site - all I asked for was a tidbit of credit, and a
courtesy link back. I believed this sort of etiquette was basic, but time
and time again, I have been proven wrong. I do not want to think of the
number of people who have ripped me off without credit or consideration,
stealing my writing, my carefully edited images, my hard work which has all
been dedicated to sharing with you.
I have taken immense time and
effort in creating a huge storehouse of FY
information, a complete compendium full of everything a fan could want to
know. Yet, many people have 'raped' my site - taking advantage of everything
on it without asking and without thanks. Therefore, I am tightening up my
policy just a bit - and making crediting me more specific. If you're
interested in using anything from this site -
take a moment to look at what you should do.
I am not interested in
flaunting how much FY information I have. What I want to do is make this
information more accessible to all fans of Fushigi Yuugi.
Therefore, if you're interested in using
anything, it's time for some specifics:

Guidelines for Use of Textual Website Material
General Information: General information includes things that appear in my
Information
section - stuff
like ISBN numbers, release dates, series information, available merchandise,
and the like. Any of this information is for your use. Feel free to take any
information from this section for your site. However, I recommend that if
you *do* use this information, put things in your own
words for the sake of making your page unique. And of course, linking
to the page is always welcome! ^v^
General Descriptions: General descriptions would include anything that I have
written out a description for. These are a little more difficult to
describe, but a good example is the introduction to my
Fushigi Yuugi OAVs page, or my general
Fushigi Yuugi Introduction.
They feature information about the show that is described in some detail
in my words. These may NOT be copied. The
reasoning behind this is that they are very basic information that most (if
not all) fans of the show should be relatively familiar with, so it's not
terribly difficult to create your own. The only reason anyone should want to
copy these is out-and-out laziness, which is not a good enough excuse to
warrant copying them. Therefore, these may not
be used - simply because creating your own is an easy task you are well
capable of.
Character Descriptions: The character descriptions are also available for
general use, but the guidelines are a little more specific. Making character
descriptions isn't easy, and mine took a long time to create, especially
considering Fushigi Yuugi's rather large cast. If you'd like to use them,
you can go right ahead - BUT: you must state at the top of the page they
appear on that they were created by Sharla-chan, and you MUST provide both a
courtesy link back to my main page and a link to my e-mail address. Again -
my name at the top of the page, a link to my
main page, a link to my
e-mail address - and these MUST be on the page the character
descriptions appear on. This includes both main
characters and characters from the first and second OAVs.
The
Character Descriptions for OAV III:
Eikou Den were provided for me by
Diana, and absolutely may not be used without her permission. If you
would like to use these for your site, you MUST e-mail her asking for her
permission to use them.
Story Outlines: This includes introductions to any aspects of the Fushigi
Yuugi storyline - specifically, any introduction I have created for
Fushigi Yuugi OAV I,
OAV II, and
Explanation of OAV I. These may not be used as they are my
own writing about the story. The other reason they may not be used is
related to the use of the General Descriptions
- they are very basic information that most (if not all) fans of the show
should be relatively familiar with, so it's not terribly difficult to create
your own. The only reason anyone should want to copy these is out-and-out
laziness, which is not a good enough excuse to warrant copying them.
Therefore, these may not be used - simply
because creating your own is an easy task you are well capable of.

Miscelleneous Section: Except if
explicitly stated otherwise, everything in this section was created originally by
me. A
lot of it is my opinion on a character, or my favorite scenes, or some other section
based on my likes. Therefore, I really don't see the need of you wanting anything
from here anyway . . . if you like a character, you should build your own
shrine to him/her. But, if you do see something here that you like, just send
me an
e-mail
and we'll see what we can work out.
This does not mean just steal what you want
from here - e-mail me FIRST to ask if the section you want may or may not be
used.
Song
Lyrics and Translations: The lyrics were all romanized and translated by me
(Sharla-chan). As I am not a native speaker of Japanese, this was extremely
difficult work, and took a very long time. Because I am proud of my song
lyrics, I do allow other websites to use them. However, the guidelines for
their use are very specific. First, you must
e-mail me to let me know that
you are using them. Second, you must state on the top
of the page they appear on that they were romanized and translated by
Sharla-chan, and that they may not be used on other sites without her
permission. Third, you must provide an e-mail link to me as translator for
comments/feedback - again, on the page they appear on.
And, finally, you MUST link to my main page - and, as before, this link must
be on the page upon which the song lyrics appear.
All four of these steps are essential and important, and if you'd like to
use the lyrics, you must abide by all of them.
Episode Synopses:
The episode synopses may not appear on other websites. There is no question
or argument about it. For the
OAV II,
for which all episodes were written by me, each synopses took around 12 hours to do (episode 6 took
24). They were far too much time and effort to just be taken and used on
another website. Instead, please just link to the page - the synopses will
not be going anywhere, so just direct visitors to the appropriate page.
On a related vein, the
OAV III: Eikou Den episode synopses may
not be taken either - these were created for this website by the generous
Diana. Taking these is not only
defiling her kindness in donating them to this site, but also being horribly
unfair to the enormous amount of work she dedicated in bringing them to you.
They may NOT be used on any other websites.
Guidelines for Use of Graphical Website Material
Image Gallery:
The Image Gallery is a huge resource of
images that I have gathered together for everyone to enjoy. The vast
majority of the images are public domain and free for use. HOWEVER, for a
selected number of images I had to secure special permission from the people
who scanned them before putting them in the gallery. Although you don't need
my permission to take these, please consult the following people for use of
their scans:
Kei-chan
is the one who spent her time making those LD scans look so beautiful, so ask her before
you take them!
Doll-chan
has many original Artbook scans that don't appear anywhere else. Please visit her
Page as well before snatching!
As an addenum to that, I must request that
if you do want an image from the gallery, download it to your own server instead of direct-linking it.
You're free to pretty much help yourself to any image from the gallery, just not to my bandwidth.
Backgrounds:
For backgrounds, the graphic
sets I use are obtained from various free sites on the web. Any of these sites are linked
to on the Thank You page. If you're
interested, you can check out these pages for yourself, for both the sets
I've used and for other gorgeous graphics. You do not necessarily have to
use the same backgrounds I use to decorate my site - there are so many to
choose from, it won’t be difficult for you to find a nice graphic set to add
to your site. And, it is important that you
follow the guidelines set up by the artists who are providing these
background sets. Check out their respective policy pages for how they wish
to be credited/linked.
General Layout: General layout refers to how I set up the text/graphics on my
website. This may not be copied! The setup of my website is a result my own
creative process, therefore you may not steal my layouts. Create your own
look for your own website without stealing my html and my ideas on what
makes a page look good.
Website Graphics: Any Fushigi Yuugi graphics that
appear for my own personal website design are NOT (repeat, NOT!) up for grabs. These
graphics have all been created and/or edited by me, therefore they belong to
me. Editing
them required *HOURS* of labour using very (and I mean very) cheapy programs that involve
much frustration and work. If
you take these, not only will you be stealing, but you will have a very
irate webmistress out for your blood. These include
any sort of graphic appearing on any of
my pages. Do not take these! For your use, however, I have included the original
graphics in the Gallery, if you care to edit them
yourself. I repeat: any Fushigi Yuugi graphics appearing on any page outside
of the gallery may NOT be taken. ONLY the images within the Image Gallery
may be used on another website.
