Hello and welcome to a
shrine dedicated to the heroine of Fushigi Yuugi, Miaka
Yuuki herself. Miaka is one gal I think rocks - and out there I
have noticed a LOT of people giving this cool chica one bad rap. I
happen to really like Miaka as a heroine, so I have dedicated this
page to giving our dear Suzaku No Miko the credit she deserves!
Why do I like Miaka? There are a lot of good reasons. Miaka has a
reputation of being an airhead, but this is simply due to her
cheerful nature. Miaka's got more brains than people may think.
Although Miaka is not the best at school, I think she's one smart
girl; her lack of concentration in the schoolroom is due to her
personality rather than anything to do with her intelligence.
Miaka's the type of person who likes to get out and do things, not
sit still and just let life take its course. She would likely be
bored and restless in a classroom. Deserving of special mention is
that Miaka is the ONLY character in the Fushigi Yuugi-verse who
ISN'T manipulated by Nakago!! He tries taking advantage of her and
underestimates her as Miko, but she stands up for herself and
doesn't give into his attempts.
Miaka is always optimistic and continuously tries her best. She
never backs down or gives a challenge anything less than one
hundred percent. She is completely faithful to the people she
loves and cares about - she accepts everyone for who they are,
faults included. She never underestimates the value of a
friendship, and dedicates herself to making others happy. Miaka is
extremely loyal to everyone surrounding her, so much so that she
never gives up on even the person who betrays her completely: Yui.
She never stops being Yui's friend, even when their friendship is
in turmoil, and Yui does everything to destroy Miaka's happiness.
How many people out there do you HONESTLY think would be that
dedicated? Miaka is to be admired - what she displays is true
friendship. She is always Yui's friend no matter what Yui does to
her. She loves everyone wholly and without reservation no matter
what they may have done.
Miaka thinks with her heart rather than her head, unlike Yui, who
is motivated the opposite way. Miaka is guided by her feelings
instead of stories or rumors, which have an ugly way of being
false. Miaka believes in people and it doesn't matter to her what
others say; if she's got a friend, she sticks by that person.
Miaka is very understanding of others; she sees what is inside
rather than focusing on the misleading exterior. She understands
where people come from - and this is of especial note when it
comes to the enemy. Never once does she put them down or say that
she detests them. Rather, she puts herself in their position and
realizes that it is also difficult for them; that what they're
doing is merely protecting their Miko, as her own Seishi do. They
are driven by the same motivation and passion.
One of the reasons Miaka is disliked is because of the male
attention she's given. Honestly people, don't be jealous! Really!
If there is any character on the show I had to pick to be given
the guy's eyes, I'm glad it's Miaka! For one thing, she never
forced love upon her Seishi or anyone else. The love they give to
her is honestly come by, and a decision they make by themselves.
Miaka treated them all as equals - friends and human beings first.
She did NOT in any way flirt or attract attention to encourage
their feelings towards her. When Miaka does discover someone's
love for her, she doesn't push it or take advantage of the
situation. Instead, she respects where they are coming from, and
does her best to be understanding. Miaka doesn't toy with anyone's
feelings of love; rather, she has empathy for her friends.
Miaka's got guts. Throughout the entire show she is run through an
emotional wringer, and she still keeps on ticking and hanging in
there. She always considers others' welfare before her own, which
is the reason she possesses so much courage. Miaka is not
physically strong, but she doesn't use that as an excuse not to
become involved. She realizes her physical limitations, and
instead tries her best to help in other ways. Rather than giving
up, she compensates - she makes up in the areas she's not so great
at with focusing her energies on the other things she CAN do well.
She is determined not to let her limitations hinder others or hold
anyone back, either; if a situation calls for courage, she steps
up to it, no matter what she has to do.
When it comes to faults, love of food is a pretty minor one,
considering. And, come on everyone, I know *I* love eating - who
doesn't? Contrary to popular belief, Miaka does not get her
friends into trouble. The others are part of this too . . .
they're in it together, like a team. She's not the only one making
the decisions; she's perfectly content to let the others take the
lead if it's an area they excel in. She doesn't interfere with
what the others decide to do - if they have a good plan, she lets
it be and accepts their ideas. Any mistakes Miaka makes are
generally from trying not to get other people involved in her
problems. And, hey, she's allowed to make mistakes. Nobody's life
is ever perfect.
One of Miaka's most admirable traits is her great capacity for
forgiveness. Her affection is completely unconditional. She
doesn't criticize people for their faults; instead, she admires
the differences that make people unique. Miaka keeps her
criticisms to herself - she doesn't go pointing out or cutting
down when people screw up. She takes things in stride and accepts
things as they come. For example, Miaka is perfectly aware of how
Yui was trying to hurt her, but she doesn't hold it against her
better judgment. She does not allow unkind feelings to grow and
poison something that was once beautiful. Miaka is incredibly
optimistic - she always looks for the good points in just about
everything. This is what keeps her going. Of course, she also has
a good sense of humor.
Miaka is thankful for the friendships that surround her, and tries
her best to help everyone when they need it. One of the greatest
examples of her courage is when she decides to sacrifice
everything she holds dear to herself for the welfare of all
people. At the very end, Miaka risks her life, her friendships,
and her love all for the sake of the world. In other words, she
gives up her own happiness for the happiness of others. How can
you NOT admire a person like her? I can't think of a more
admirable action. Miaka gave her all, and played fair. To her, the
end did NOT justify the means. Miaka saw that the greatest
achievement in life is loving and being loved.
So now do you need ask if there are any reasons why Miaka IS
cooler than you think? I can name a few. |
