How to Perform a God-Calling Ceremony

Okay, all of you aspiring Miko! The most important part of your position is, naturally, calling your god! Now, if anyone here plans on being pulled into a magical book anytime soon, this is the guide for you! Helpfully described in the following is the final ceremony for performing this deed successfully. Note: This only works if the proper seven Seishi or Shinzahos are collected ahead of time. If not, success is not guaranteed.

First matter of preparation is the cleansing and purifying of oneself. The Miko is taken to a special bathing place where she is isolated and attended to only by maids. Here she removes her clothes and is able to swim about freely in a relaxed manner, while quieting her mind and reflecting on the seriousness of  the ceremony

she is about to perform. After the purification is complete, the Miko leaves the pool and is dressed appropriately in a beautiful gown and jewelery. Finally, she is led to where the ceremony is taking place.

 The Seishi await the Miko in a specially-prepared hall where a sacred flame burns. They surround her in a circle and keep their Chi open and focused. The Miko approaches the platform, where she must bow her head, close her eyes, and pray to her god. After her prayers of prosperity are sent, the Miko must recite the following verse perfectly and without hesitation:
 

The Four Directions of the Sky
The Four Directions of the Earth
By using the way, mind, and goodness
With deep rules
With truth and justice
Please tell the protector of the (Direction), (Name of god)

Now I will complete the words: Seven Constellations
From the sky to the Earth
Through the Four Ultimates
Fulfill for all living things

Please make extinct every kind of evil
By your godly powers
Protect us.
Only I wish
Please listen to this
From the sky
Please come down to us!
 

After the verse is recited, the sacred scroll is burned. The symbols of all the Seishi appear in the corresponding places on the Miko’s body. They then transform into a beam of light that fires up into the sky, where the clouds part and the animal god descends to the Earth from the heavens. The light expands to surround the Miko, as she is drawn in to be presented to the god.
 

The god appears to the Miko in human form. He introduces himself as the Lord of his specific quadrant, and asks the girl before him if she acknowledges that she indeed is the Miko who summoned him. He then offers the opportunity for the Miko to merge and use his powers three times. Upon agreeing, the god enters the Miko’s body.
 

The Miko returns from the light, to use the powers of the god at any time she is ready. All the Miko has to do is recite the words "Kai-Jin" to call upon the power within her and grant one wish. When she recites these words, the symbol of the god appears on her forehead; and she is able to draw on the omnipotent power of the god inside her to make the wish come true.
 

Each time the Miko uses the god’s power to grant a wish, she merges a little more. Because of the merging between the god and the Miko, the Miko is weakened and drained of energy after drawing on the power. If the Miko’s body is not physically strong enough and her will too weak, after granting a wish, she may be completely consumed by the god and die. If the Miko can withstand using the power, she can grant her three wishes, and the god will simply withdraw from her, leaving the Miko unharmed. After a Miko has granted three wishes, her duty in the book world is complete, and she is forced to return to her home in the real world.
